I won't get a chance to watch or even listen, but it was great to see that Joel Zumaya of the Tigers might throw a Major League Pitch tonight.
It's been a long time since he was healthy - the last time, really, was in 2006, when he was the next best thing. Then came the guitar hero injury (yes, he really did hurt himself playing guitar hero - during the playoffs, no less). Then he ruptured a tendon in his throwing arm. Then came the freak shoulder injury when a box fell on him.
Just the definition of bad luck. It was so hard to watch, not only because he was a great pitcher (who could bring it like almost no one in the game) but because he clearly enjoyed playing so much and had such a bright future.
So, now for him to be throwing again in the Majors is a great story.
Post-game Update And the Tigers won, with Zumaya throwing a full inning and giving up zero runs.
