Marcus Thames, You Never Got a Chance

The Tigers released a fan favorite today, Marcus Thames. I think the reason he never got as much playing time as he deserved was that he always seemed to be exceeding expectations. He always was the backup that was hitting as well as the starter for a good part of the season, but when it came to crunch time the bigger salary got the at bats and usually came through (think Maggs this fall or Craig Monroe in 2006 ).

No doubt about it, Detroit will miss his consistent, mammoth power and great attitude. I hope he catches on with a good club.
