A new way to write

Much of the negative press about the iPad (and the iPhone before that) has been centered centered around the awkward nature of entering text on a keyboard that is part of the screen itself.  Apple has provided a way to use any bluetooth keyboard (and now, with the camera kit, any usb keyboard) to enter text into the iPad.

The results could be amazing.

With the iPad sitting nicely in its dock on a coffee table, I am writing these words while sitting comfortably on a couch using an Apple bluetooth keyboard.  As far as writing, I still put it below typing at a desktop with a surface for the keyboard to sit atop and a mouse to select insert points for the cursor, but this is a very enjoyable way yo type.  And with how sitting at a desk has become engrained for me as “this is where you type code,” sitting on a couch makes the experience all the more relaxing.

I can see myself putting out a blog post from my couch, instead of scribbling a few sentences in a Field Notes and hoping I can put my thoughts back together when I finally get a chance to sit down at my desk.

I think I’m going to love this new way to write
